alt

MS-Mondraker Team is proud to announce some really big
and exciting news for 2015.

“After the 2014 season we started to develop a new program for our team and it was clear that we needed a boost to be able to compete on our highest level again and try to win races and championships. We need to jump to the next level and I believe our 2015 Team will achieve that” – states Lukas Haider MSMondraker Team CEO. “It got a bit quiet around the MS Mondraker Team since the big success in 2012 where the team was competing for the top spot in the UCI World Cup Team ranking. For sure we had some good results, but we were missing the big victories we had in the past. 2015 is a really promising season for our Team again.”

THE BIG NEWS

“We run our team because we are race driven and hungry for victories, but we needed to set back for reorientation after the leaving of the two top team riders. We knew where we wanted to be, but we had to wait till our stars align for building
our new line up. We are happy to announce that 2011 World Champion Danny Hart will join our program and we welcome back 2009 and 2011 World Champion Emmeline Ragot, who was one of the main reasons for our success in 2012. Both will join our long-term member Markus Pekoll and our rookie Innes Graham.”

MONDRAKER PRESENTS THE NEW SUMMUM CARBON 2015

It has been five seasons since the launch of the Summum, the bike that lifted Mondraker to the top of the World Cup rankings, becoming the benchmark for downhill racing bikes from the very first day. In its sixth generation, for 2015 the Summum has seen the greatest evolution of this winning model, with 27’5” wheels, Forward Geometry and optimized Zero Suspension System, with three aluminum versions and two revolutionary carbon models.

SUMMUM CARBON ALL NEW

The launch of Foxy Carbon has raised the bar to the highest level, being the first step in a new generation of Mondraker carbon bikes, and this Summum Carbon continues the trend. Everything that we have learned over the three years working on carbon development with Foxy Carbon has now been applied to this unprecedented Summum. Of course, our DH World Cup winning model comes with the option of adjusting its geometry and choosing slacker or steeper head angle and chainstay length. The Zero Suspension System includes more and better bearings: oversized pivots and axles; and a new lower link with collet thru-axles and bolts with expander cone washers that offer maximum reliability without any maintenance needs.

UNIQUE SENSATIONS WITH THE FASTEST EVER SUMMUM

The development process has been focused on creating the fastest and most efficient downhill machine ever possible. We have used our best resources and our greatest efforts to achieve this. It has almost been an obsession. We have taken to the limit the possibilities for the development and manufacturing for a “full carbon” frame in a new downhill bike with a strength-rigidity-weight ratio that a priori seemed impossible on paper. But the dream has come true. With a weight of 2,837 grams (6.25 lbs.) for the frame in medium size without the shock, Summum Carbon becomes one of the lightest downhill bikes ever made. But the best is yet to come... The efficiency and handling of this new carbon Summum have to be tested to be believed. The new Summum Carbon offers better performance than its aluminum sibling with a ride that is more compliant, controlled and comfortable as being ultra-rigid and super efficient at the same time, setting the best times against the clock.

SUPER FASTER

Summum Carbon brings together all the know-how and background that Mondraker has been acquiring about competitive racing since the launch of the brand in the year 2002. Summum Carbon combines the most advanced technologies; it is the most advanced downhill bike that we have ever created. It is the new work tool for our MS Mondraker Team, with which we are going to try to do better in each and every one of the international downhill races. The bike has been a real surprise to all of our riders, who have been unanimous in singing its praises for the benefits and possibilities it offers, as well as the speed and efficiency of this new model. The most sophisticated, multi adjustable and advanced bike representing the future of the downhill racing world, available today.

STEALTH CARBON TECHNOLOGY

Stealth involves the most advanced technology in the industrial design and optimization of structures which is present in most of the top of the range Mondraker models. Summum Carbon raises the concept of Stealth Carbon to its greatest heights, inheriting all the knowledge applied over the three years developing and creating the Foxy Carbon, to create the best and fastest downhill bike possible. The result is clear to see: A frame with a unique and unbeatable look, surprising and shocking whichever way you look at it. Characteristic of the Stealth Carbon technology are the curved and rounded shapes, which are plain to see and make its impressive appearance even more striking. The Summum Carbon stands out from the rest with exceptional structural rigidity denoting its careful craftsmanship and the studied positioning of each and every one of the carbon layers that make it up. The Stealth manufacturing method is the result of carrying out research on each of the essential processes that make it up, with the objective of improving its features as much as possible. From the selection and preparation of the different types of carbon fiber, preservation and impregnation with epoxy, to their detailed layout and manual application in their specific location, everything follows a strict process set out in the fiber plan written by the engineers. The use of solid internal molds, both in expanded high density polystyrene and in biodegradable silicon, allow for the optimal compression of the fibers with the guarantee of a clean extraction after the heat treatment. What stands out above all is our Vacuum Compression Process method, through which the frame is subjected to a process of fiber compression through a vacuum at high pressure. All the frames and parts are put through this process after each layer of material is applied. This way, we can remove any potential air bubbles among layers and let us achieve a greater expansion of the epoxy adhesive between the weaves of the fibers. With this we can guarantee the reliability of the structure, achieving figures for strength and rigidity that are greater than those for fibers only applied manually. The oversized front triangle follows the design of Foxy Carbon, where it has been very important to achieving optimum frontal rigidity. The top tube has a very marked sloping that splits in two when in contact with the head tube providing unprecedented structural solidity. In addition to its functional advantages in terms of performance, this is one of the most attractive features of the Summum Carbon in terms of its appearance. The bottom bracket and the Zero Suspension System, which now have new bearings, oversized axles and a lower link with a new design, have been specifically reinforced offering greater rigidity and better performance. The swingarm entirely manufactured from carbon with an integrated mudguard design finishes off a frame of a highly technical nature that has undoubtedly been our most complex and sophisticated challenge to date. With a weight of only 2,837 grams for the complete Summum Carbon frame in medium size without the shock, it is one of the lightest downhill models ever made in the world.

ZERO SUSPENSION SYSTEM TECHNOLOGY

Zero is the virtual pivot suspension system developed and patented by Mondraker, consisting of two links that compress and control the movement of the shock at its two ends. The positioning of the shock and being compressed from both sides creates a floating movement, giving life to this exclusive highperformance suspension system. In addition, characteristic of the Summum Carbon is the fact that the shock mounts in each link are supported on needle bearings, giving rise to a level of sensitivity and suppleness unheard of in downhill bikes. Summum Carbon features a new optimization of the Zero system, already being released in the 2015 Summum aluminum model in order to obtain the best pedaling performance with the best absorption prowess. Thanks to the Stealth Carbon construction and the new bearings and oversized axles of the Zero system, Summum Carbon offers better performance and an efficiency never felt before in a downhill bike. The bike is more agile, more supple, more powerful and faster. Super faster. A new experience that makes the Summum Carbon the leading model among the racing downhill bikes at the World Cup.
The two Summum Carbon models use FOX DHX RC4 Factory Kashima shocks with a configuration and setting that are exclusive and specifically developed for our Zero Suspension System.

FORWARD GEOMETRY TECHNOLOGY

Summum Carbon benefits from the Forward Geometry that we have spent more than five seasons developing to the maximum level in the Downhill World Cup. Since 2013 we have been offering this in all our high-performance Mondraker models, such as the Summum. The advantages of Forward Geometry lay on better control of your bike, superior handling, stability and greater confidence, which in a downhill bike are key facts when it comes to beating our time against the clock. Forward Geometry is based on a geometry with longer top tubes combined with a shorter stem. In this case we use a new adjustable length FG20-30 stem and, as an option, we offer our traditional more direct FG10 with only 10 mm length, which has taken the Forward concept for downhill bikes to the mainstream, becoming the international leader and making our original Forward Geometry the geometry benchmark in front of the rest of the bikes are put to test. Forward Geometry offers greater safety in technical and steep terrain, with a more advanced front wheel axle that provides greater stability even on really steep chutes. This increase in the length of the Front Center -and therefore on the bike wheelbase- creates a more composed and stable bike at high speed in any situation. The new FG20-30 stem is more direct and enables much less handlebar movement to obtain the same front wheel angle, thus improving steering precision and making the bike extremely reactive. Forward Geometry establishes a new weight balance making it possible to load the front wheel much more than with a traditional geometry. This fact allows you to improve your riding and handling skills in downhill, offering greater grip on turns and noticeably improving control.
The development of Forward Geometry in an environment as brutal, competitive and demanding as the Downhill World Cup has led us to create what is, when all is said and done, one of the best and most important innovations in mountain bikes today. A geometric concept created by Mondraker, which is being increasingly followed by other international brands that, with their desire to try to imitate it, take our original Forward Geometry to new heights, always one step ahead.

RIDE 27’5

The Summum model has been completely redesigned in 2015 in both the aluminum version and this new carbon model featuring for the first time 27’5” wheels. Following market trends where 27’5” has shown itself to be better, more efficient, superior and, ultimately, faster than the 26” bikes of the past, the combination of our Forward Geometry, optimized Zero Suspension System and the new 27’5” wheel diameter creates the fastest Summum ever. If the aluminum Summum has established itself a new standard for DH bikes, Summum Carbon raises it to a whole new category. A new status for the best and most sophisticated racing bike at its highest level. Ride 27’5”: The new optimized Forward Geometry in the new Summum Carbon features 27’5” wheels and represents a great advantage in the high-performance downhill racing world.

Hidden Housing Guide internal Cabling

Summum Carbon features our HHG system of guided internal cables for both the rear derailleur and rear brake. This way, we can guarantee less maintenance and less risk of damage when crashing, as well as a better designed and much cleaner aesthetics.

ISCG05

Both Summum Carbon models feature E-13 chain guides and an exclusive protector to avoid damage to the bottom bracket, which in turn also protects the bottom of the frame itself.

Exclusive downtube and chainstay protectors

When downhill riding or racing, to prevent any rock thrown away from the trail could damage the downtube, we have designed an exclusive carbon fiber protector custom made for the lower part of the downtube, as well as a highstrength
